What Is Spyware?
Spyware is software that gathers information about a computer's user without their knowledge or permission. Spyware behaviors can include key logging and other information theft, as well as annoying pop-ups and browser redirection.
Spyware is not usually classified as "viruses" for two reasons: the software does not attempt to spread itself automatically, and it does not intentionally destroy data or programs.
Spyware can have a serious effect on security and productivity.
How Can WebMarshal Help?
Integration of anti-spyware scanning with WebMarshal allows you to check for and stop spyware at the network boundary. This capability provides an added layer of protection beyond what desktop scanners can provide.
WebMarshal gives you a choice of two well known anti-spyware scanners: PestPatrol and CounterSpy. These components are known as PestPatrol for Marshal and CounterSpy for Marshal.
WebMarshal Reports give you the ability to review anti-spyware performance, and to contact and educate your users who may be browsing to unsafe sites.
The WebMarshal anti-spyware solutions include high-throughput DLL interfaces, integrated licensing, and customized upgrade components. You can use one or both. Your WebMarshal trial includes licensing for these components.
